“Even now we are journeying towards the sabbath of eternity, the new Jerusalem, towards our common home in heaven. Jesus says: 'I make all things new' (Rev 21:5). Eternal life will be a shared experience of awe, in which each creature, resplendently transfigured, will take its rightful place and have something to give those poor men and women who will have been liberated once and for all.”

SERVICE: Taking Care of His Suffering Body

Bereavement

The Risen Christ in our midst is the “firstborn of the dead” (Col 1:18). Through the light of his Resurrection, St. Anthony parishioners can offer their hope and care for those who grieve the loss of a loved one.

Parishioners are encouraged to call a parish priest first when a family member has died, even before the funeral director or cemetery manager. The priests can offer the consolation of the Church, and guidance on the Funeral Mass and burial in the sacred grounds of a cemetery. The parish staff can help you coordinate the Funeral readings, music and hospitality after the burial.

Parishioners who would like to assist the bereaved can help by:

-attending the Vigil, Funeral and Burial as a member of the parish community

-praying for the deceased and their loved ones

-preparing, coordinating and serving meals after the Funeral Mass and burial

-following up with bereaved family members, especially during the first year

Please pray for the souls of all the faithful departed of our parish, especially those who have most recently passed into eternal life.

Thanksgiving Prayer to St. Anthony

Most loving protector, St. Anthony, what gift can I give you in exchange to show my heartfelt gratitude? With your continued help I will show appreciation to you by being more faithful to God, more constant in prayer, and readier to do good to those nearest me....May these intentions convey my great thanks to the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and to our blessed Lady, Queen of heaven and earth.

Prayer for Souls

Eternal Father, I offer you the most precious Blood of your divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the word today, for all the holy souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the Universal Church, those in my own home and within my own family. Amen

-St. Gertrude the Great (1256-1302)
