Mission Statement

St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, located in the Brookland area of northeast Washington, D.C., is a Catholic parish community of faith-filled Christians. We celebrate Christ's life and presence through celebration of the sacraments, vibrant and meaningful worship and a rich community life based on unity and love. We proclaim the Good News through hospitality, education and evangelization. We respond with love in service to those in need, and reach out with compassion in justice to the unprotected and defenseless in our community and beyond in order to reach the final destination of our earthly pilgrimage: happiness in eternity with almighty God.

Youth NET Retreat 
All 6-8^th graders welcome to attend
Wednesday, September 29^th from 5-9PM in Margot Hall
Dinner will be provided and the retreat is free
The goals of the retreat are to help young people understand and accept God’s unconditional love, to offer the faith of the team members as a witness to the youth that faith in God is a desirable, acceptable, and exciting part of their lives and to encourage young people to grow in their commitment to Jesus Christ and His Church.

Eucharistic Adortion: 
Every First Friday until 2PM  following the noon Mass in the Holy Family Chapel. 

Prayer and Life Workshops: Learn to Pray,  Learn to Live
A service that allows us to learn and improve the art of prayer.  Here you learn to pray by experiencing prayer...  After an intense contemplation of Jesus, the workshops help to initiate a transforming process that makes us Christlike: meek, patient, humble, sensitive, and compassionate...The workshop does not establish church groups nor prayer communities.  It offers a limited and humble service: teaching how to pray and how to live an authentic Christian life.  

Adults 18+ (English): 15 week series begins Thursday, September 9th; 1:30 - 4:30PM

Youth (English):  TBA

Adults (Spanish): 15 week series begins Saturday, September 4th; 10 - Noon

The Fresh Anointing
A community of young adults, meets on the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month at 7:30PM in Margot Hall for charismatic praise and worship, teachings, and fellowship.
 
Parish School of Religion
Classes will begin Sunday, September 12, 2010
Classes meet from 11:15 - 12:15PM on Sundays in the school building.

Celebrating Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta
Join the Missionaries of Charity as they celebrate the order’s feast day and the anniversary of the death of their foundress Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta with mass at the Basilica of the National Shrine on Thursday, August 26^th at 12:10PM.  
 
The United States Postal Service cordially invites you to attend the First-Day-of-Issue ceremony for the Mother Teresa Commemorative Stamp on Sunday, September 5^th at 3:15PM at the Basilica of the National Shrine in the Great Upper Church.  The ceremony will be preceded by  the Mother Teresa Memorial Mass at 2PM also in the Great Upper Church.  Archbishop Pietro Sambi, Apostolic Nuncio to the United States will be the celebrant and homilist.
